At first glance, «Gold» looks like a Western set in the present: Desperate, silent men set off into inhospitable nature to search for gold. In fact, the film takes place in a not particularly distant future. The state of the world is obviously not good there.
Zac Efron and director Anthony Hayes play two migrant workers who come across the largest gold nugget ever found in the desert. You only see the tip of the huge nugget of precious metal, most of it is underground and can only be recovered with special equipment. One goes, the other guards the gold. As radio contact and water diminish, hungry wolves approach the site. Zac Efron’s character slides into the dusty, sweaty madness…
