Ruggero Deodato once gained a foothold in the film industry as assistant director and second unit director to the well-known western director Sergio Corbucci, and was also involved in his cult classic “ Django ”. However, the Italian exploitation great only made himself immortal with his contributions to cannibal cinema in the 1980s – from his controversial cult film ” Cannibal Holocaust ” aka “Naked and Zerfleischt” to a small role as a human carnivore in Eli Roth’s torture porn shocker ” Hostel 2 ” (which, by the way, has not been confiscated for a short time and will soon be published in its entirety).
But now the new edition of another genre classic is coming up: “ Cut And Run ” will be released on March 25th in its entirety on DVD and Blu-ray. The film, whose uncut version was on the index in Germany from 1987 to 2012 and was therefore not allowed to be openly advertised and sold for a long time, was pardoned by the FSK a few years ago and finally released for those aged 18 and over.

The CMV label, which specializes in genre fare, is of course releasing the film in the completely unabridged version – and not as an expensive limited edition in a media book, but as an inexpensive standard edition on DVD and Blu-ray. With a focus on what is most important to horror fans: the uncut version!
This is cut and run
Whether the film would have risen to the horror Olympus and possibly even replaced “Cannibal Holocaust” as the cannibal film par excellence if genre master Wes Craven (“Scream”, “Nightmare On Elm Street”) had directed it as planned, we will probably never found out. But “Cut And Run” has long enjoyed cult status among fans – not least because of its lavish splatter interludes, which once got him into trouble with moral guardians all over the world.
Banned in numerous countries: One of the most disturbing films of all time appears for the first time uncut with an 18 rating
The film revolves around a Colombian drug cartel that retreats into the jungle to conduct its business. Well hidden from the authorities, however, they attract the attention of locals who live by their own principles in the depths of the forest – and who eventually slaughter the invaders of their habitat in cold blood. However, when Fran Hudson ( Lisa Blount ) and Mark Ludman ( Leonard Mann ) come across information about the cartel boss, who was believed dead, in the course of their research, the two smell the story of their lives. So they set off to follow the trail that leads into the jungle – with devastating consequences…
Even more Ex-Index-Kult now uncut
Incidentally, uncut enthusiasts have several reasons to celebrate this week. In addition to “Cut And Run”, two other films are also being released uncut – for the first time since they were no longer indexed: Rob Zombie’s “ Halloween ” in the Director’s Cut and “ Blast Heroes ” by John Woo.

The Director’s Cut of “Halloween”, which is a full eleven minutes longer than the theatrical version, was taken off the index after 15 years and will be released on Blu-ray for the first time on March 25th with a rating of 18 – as a 3-disc set, the also contains the uncut theatrical version. And John Woo’s “Blast Heroes” is finally officially rehabilitated. The brute action thriller once had to be shortened by eleven minutes to get the green light from the FSK. From March 24th, the film will finally be officially available in full length with an 18 rating.
