If you break it down roughly, there are only two types of success in Hollywood: On the one hand, there is the box office and the associated profit for filmmakers** and the studio. On the other hand, there are the reviews, which often lead to prestigious awards. Filming both — they’re both box-office hits and critics’ favorites — isn’t necessarily the norm. However, “ Gravity ” is such a case.
The science fiction adventure by Alfonso Cuarón («Roma», «Children Of Men»), which won seven (!) Oscars, grossed a whopping 723 million dollars in 2013 — more than seven times the production costs. But was the hype about “Gravity” justified in the end? We find: Yes! And if you don’t have plans tonight and you haven’t seen the movie yet, our advice is to go on Space Odyssey with George Clooney and Sandra Bullock .
