There aren’t many Rape & Revenge movies directed by a woman. » Revenge » is one of the few exceptions — and director Coralie Fargeat not only contributes a refreshing perspective on the genre that was thought to have been dead for a long time, she also delivers in the areas of fun, suspense, blood and gore — to the point of absolute excess .
The plot: Every year, three super-rich businessmen rent a luxury villa in the middle of the desert to go on safari from there. However, family man Richard ( Kevin Janssens ) is bringing his lover Jen ( Matilda Lutz ) with him this time. A boozy party night ends in rape — and to silence Jen, the buddies throw her off a cliff, at the foot of which the young woman is pierced by a log. But when the trio later return to the crime scene to bury the body, Jen has disappeared into the desert…
