» Scream — scream! » by » Nightmare — Murderous Dreams » mastermind Wes Craven is an absolute masterpiece — and the film that made me a cinema fan in the first place in the nineties! But this success also has a dark side — namely all the lousy wannabe slashers that flooded the horror market in the late 90s to rake in a dollar or two in the shadow of the great role model. I’m thinking primarily of concoctions like » Scream If You Can » with «Angel» star David Boreanaz and Bond nuclear physicist Denise Richards…
But there were exceptions that were wrongly written off as «Scream» clones, but actually had much more to offer. This is particularly tragic in the case of » We’ll get you too «, for example . David Nutter ‘s horror satire isn’t even a real slasher, but most people still took it for one, simply because the poster & DVD cover (see photo above) were designed in the same way as all teen slaughter films in the nineties.
Tele5 shows «We’ll get you too» tonight from 10:35 p.m. — but unfortunately only the FSK-16 version (almost two minutes are missing with 15 cuts). The uncut FSK-18 version, on the other hand, is only available on DVD:

And if you still need material for the next junk film evening:

Down with the nerds!
That’s what «We’ll get you too» is about: Steve Clark ( James Marsden ) has to choose between different cliques in his new high school. There is the Blue Ribbons, for example, who are completely dedicated to the well-being of humanity and the pursuit of success — but they also occasionally have little freaks, where they break the necks of their friends. On the other hand, there are the weed wasters around Gavin ( Nick Stahl ) and Rachel ( Katie Holmes with a rebellious nose piercing).
Steve chooses the sympathetic outsiders — at least until the Blue Ribbons and their leader Dr. Edgar Caldicott ( Bruce Greenwood ) turning Gavin into a ruthless geek and clean man in a single night. It’s finally clear to Steve and Rachel that something isn’t right. Together with the moronic Pied Piper Dorian ( William Sadler ) they go into the decisive battle against the learners, the model pupils…
