When his DC career as Superman ended, Henry Cavill found a new professional home in the series The Witcher and has been hunting monsters for Netflix ever since. The second season wasn’t quite as successful as the first, but it still justifies the streaming service’s further expansion of this series franchise, which is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s Geralt saga. Today the (icy) shooting of season 3 started and on this occasion a rough, spoiler-free summary of the story was released in addition to a picture:

Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer takes her to the protected fortress of Aretusa. She hopes to discover more about the hidden powers of the young woman there. So now it’s book 2’s turn
Readers of the “Witcher” books will have recognized it: In the third season, the Sorceress School Aretusa and the Congress on Thanedd play an important role. So while the second season focused on volume 1, it is now the turn of the second book, “The Age of Contempt”.

Filming for the third season of The Witcher has now begun. Witcher Geralt will begin to gather a growing group of companions there, including huntress and archer Maria Barring aka Milva . The new episodes do not have a start date yet. Due to the extensive shooting and post-production with many digital effects, season 3 may not appear on Netflix until the end of 2023 .
