You can feel sorry for our FILMSTARTS YouTuber Sebastian. As a huge comic and series fan, he has been passionately following The Walking Dead for many years. But now that the grand finale of the TV show is approaching, his worries are growing. The newly announced TWD spin-off Isle Of The Dead starring Negan ( Jeffrey Dean Morgan ) and Maggie ( Lauren Cohan ) is just the next straw that might break the camel’s back. You can find out why the announcement of «Isle Of The Dead» is a terrible idea in the video above and also a little further down in the text.
This is Isle Of The Dead
It was announced a few days ago that Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan will reprise their roles as fan favorites Negan and Maggie after season 11 of The Walking Dead. For reasons that are still unknown, they end up together in Manhattan. The New York borough was of course also overrun by the undead, but there are still some survivors there. In any case, more details about the plot are not yet known.
New «The Walking Dead» series is coming — with Maggie and Negan at the center
«Isle Of The Dead» is expected to start in Germany sometime in 2023 on Disney +. Jeffrey Dean Morgan even announced that the spin-off would reinvent the universe of The Walking Dead.
That’s why Sebastian doesn’t want a Negan Maggie spin-off
A big problem with «Isle Of The Dead» is the timing of the announcement. The Walking Dead isn’t over yet, and so far we didn’t know if Maggie and Negan would survive the final season 11. But because of the spin-off, the characters can’t die just yet. The mere future existence of «Isle Of The Dead» takes a lot of excitement out of the upcoming finale of the parent series , especially since with «Daryl & Carol» two other fan favorites are already getting a spin-off and are therefore almost certain.
In addition, a concern that Sebastian has already expressed in another video (see below) is being confirmed more and more: The creators of «The Walking Dead» don’t seem to have a good plan for how to complete a round in the few remaining episodes should get the finale right and instead continue the stories started in other series.
It’s not a real conclusion to «The Walking Dead»…
