When Ewan McGregor filmed the » Obi-Wan » series, he was 49 years old, making him the perfect age for the role. Original actor Alec Guinness was in his early 60s when Star Wars 4 was filmed, and with the Obi-Wan series taking place nearly ten years before this film, it’s fitting that Lucasfilm has come up with this fan-awaited one Story has waited so long. Disney+ finally kicks off on May 25, 2022, and the first trailer promises a series bridging the gap between the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the original three films.
Obi (not only) in the desert: The story of the «Kenobi» series
Obi-Wan, the Jedi Knight and former teacher of Anakin Skywalker, is one of the loneliest men in the galaxy: his order has been almost wiped out and the few remaining Jedi are being hunted down relentlessly. Inquisitors (played by Rupert Friend and Moses Ingram ) are after the survivors. Obi-Wan’s job is to watch from afar over whoever will one day rebuild the Jedi Order: young Luke Skywalker.
Directed by Deborah Chow , the mini-series takes place in large part on Luke’s sandy home planet of Tatooine. However, published concept drawings already show that Obi-Wan will also leave the planet several times and despite all the dangers. So many fans’ notion that Obi-Wan lived exclusively in the desert between the third and fourth films was wrong.
