The gangster genre was dead and director Francis Ford Coppola was reluctant to adapt Mario Puzo’s lurid novel, but desperately needed money. From this situation, the immensely successful mafia epic » The Godfather » finally emerged. The film is inseparable from its mischievously charming director, and producer Albert S. Ruddy ‘s name is far less well known, even though he played a key role in the production (and faced mob threats).
For ten episodes in The Offer we see the behind-the-scenes effort that went into The Godfather. Miles Teller plays the eventually Oscar-winning producer Albert S. Ruddy, «Fantastic Beasts» star Dan Fogler — in proper style with a black beard — as Francis Ford Coppola and the other cast includes Matthew Goode as Robert Evans, Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Burn Gorman as Charles Bluhdorn and Colin Hanks as Barry Lapidus.
«The Offer» will be available on the Paramount+ streaming service from April 28, 2022. So far, the service has not started in Germany, but it should come soon and also be available as part of Sky (for Sky Cinema customers at no extra charge, for everyone else with it).
