Promising Young Woman is about the highly intelligent Cassandra ( Carey Mulligan ) who had a bright future ahead of her. But when her best friend was raped, nobody believed her and said friend then took her own life, Cassandra’s world collapsed.
She gave up her medical studies and has since devoted herself to another activity: Cassandra regularly throws herself into the nightlife, pretends to be drunk and lets men pick her up in order to then expose her in flagranti for her attempted rape. But Cassandra’s revenge plan only really picks up speed when she meets her friend’s rapist…
