The trailer also makes it clear that «Final Cut» is very closely based on the template. The scenes in it — along with liters of blood — have been taken over almost one to one from «One Cut Of The Dead». The characters also correspond to the Japanese role models: from the director in a Hawaiian shirt to the axe-wielding zombie killer, who seems to be celebrating her outbursts of violence.

What seems particularly bizarre about the French remake: An Oscar winner took over the staging. Michel Hazanavicius took home the highest directorial award in 2012 with the silent film tribute The Artist. He is also known for his James Bond pastiche of the «OSS 117» series.
«Final Cut» starts on June 15, 2022 in French cinemas. It is not yet known if and when the film will come to Germany.
