After the conclusion of the fantasy mega-hit Game Of Thrones , many eagerly awaited what showrunner duo David Benioff and DB Weiss would tackle next. Initially, the two authors were even supposed to create a new “Star Wars” trilogy, but that didn’t materialize in the end because they chose another offer: they signed a $250 million deal with Netflix, which promised that they would produce films and series exclusively for the streaming service for five years.
The first result of this lucrative deal has been available on Netflix since August 2021 in the form of the tragicomic series “ The Professor ”. And now the first Netflix film from the “GoT” makers follows. Unlike the series “The Professor” (which was developed by David Benioff’s wife Amanda Peet ), ” Metal Lords ” is now not only responsible for the production. DB Weiss also wrote the rocking coming-of-age comedy, which was directed by Freeheld director Peter Sollett .
That’s what “Metal Lords” is about
The two high school friends Kevin (“ES” young star Jaeden Martell ) and Hunter ( Adrian Greensmith ) want to win a band competition with their own heavy metal group in order to finally end their existence as outsiders. But they are still missing a third band member.
Unable to find a suitable bass player, Hunter finally lets Kevin talk him into recording young cello player Emily ( Isis Hainsworth ) instead, even though she doesn’t seem to fit the metal image Hunter had in mind. Can the three still grow together as a unit and win the competition?
Metal Lords will be released worldwide on Netflix on April 8, 2022 . You can watch the trailer again in the original English below:
