After his berserk show in 2008 thriller 96 Hours — Taken, ex-character actor Liam Neeson has blossomed into a bang-bang action star in his older days, appearing in films like Non-Stop, Run All Night» or most recently «The Ice Road» puts an end to villains in rows (to name just a few examples).
It’s really refreshing when the 69-year-old shows himself from a different side. In recent years, Neeson has also lived out his comedic streak , especially in projects by comedy expert Seth MacFarlane (see «A Million Ways To Die In The West», «Ted 2», and «The Orville»). And he has now surprisingly continued for a series insider tip:
The third season of Derry Girls stars Liam Neeson in a cameo role as a cop who smacks the main characters, including teenage girl Erin ( Saoirse-Monica Jackson ), after they break into her school to find out her final exam results (although in the end they are able to bring the other person to their knees with the help of Erin’s snoring great-uncle).
You can watch the full length of the scene in the attached clip in the English original (with a clear Irish touch). As a questioning cop, Neeson with his distinctive grating voice comes across as just as tough as in his action roles, but at the same time flirts with them in a somewhat self-ironic way in the context of the series.
Season 3 of «Derry Girls» coming to Netflix
Liam Neeson’s «Derry Girls» cameo came directly in the first episode of the third and final season, which flickered across the screens on April 12, 2022 on British Channel 4. In this country, the celebrated comedy series is marketed as a Netflix original because it runs exclusively with the streaming provider.
So far, the first two seasons are available for download there. The third should follow in 2022, but when exactly is still unclear.
