Director Sebastian Schipper needed three months of intensive rehearsals and three complete runs , but in the end he actually managed the logistical masterpiece: his thriller drama » Victoria » from 2015 consists of a single 130-minute plan sequence without a cut! And that’s anything but a mere gimmick.
With his impressive staging approach, Schipper succeeds in throwing his audience right into the middle of a Berlin night in real time, developing irrepressible energy and an irresistible pull. The rousing interplay of form and content turns the exceptional work, located somewhere between airy romance, dynamic thriller and feverish city portrait, into a film-like intoxication, for which we awarded a well-deserved 4.5 out of 5 stars.

That’s what «Victoria» is about
The young Spaniard Victoria ( Laia Costa ) is new in Berlin and during a night of partying she meets her four friends Sonne ( Frederick Lau ), Boxer ( Franz Rogowski ), Blinker ( Burak Yigit ) and Fuss ( Max Mauff ). Together, the troupe drifts carefree through the night — until events take an unexpected turn.
Because Boxer owes a gangster a favor, the boys want to rob a bank — and without further ado recruit Victoria as a getaway driver. But what initially sounds like an exciting adventure to them soon gets completely out of hand…
