UPDATE from April 27, 2022: In the meantime, Amazon has apparently also noticed the error. In the fourth episode of the third season “LOL”, the X-Ray feature no longer lists Stefan Raab himself as a contributor, but correctly Max Giermann as the person behind the Raab mask. When Giermann appeared again in episode 6, it was done right from the start.
Continuing with the original message:
With “ LOL: Last One Laughing ” it often happens that, in addition to “external” guest stars, participants from previous seasons drop by for one or the other number to throw those currently locked up in the non-laughing arena out of the concept bring to. In the latest episode of the hit show, “LOL” veteran Max Giermann , who finished third in season 1 and even won season 2, also did his part.
In season 3, however, Giermann did not appear as himself, but slipped into the skin of Stefan Raab again for a parody of the TV show “TV Total” . Giermann has already proven several times in the past (e.g. in the sketch show “Switch Reloaded”) that he can imitate the mannerisms and way of speaking of the TV presenter almost perfectly. Now, for his “LOL” streak, the comedian has also been donned an even more elaborate make-up to further blend him into his character.
And it seems to have worked so well that the Amazon feature X-Ray also mistakes Max Giermann for the real Stefan Raab.

The technology duped
The aforementioned X-Ray is a popular function on Amazon Prime Video , which can be used to display a list of the respective actors or actors in the current scene of content that has just been accessed. The whole thing works via an advanced facial recognition program, which is also linked to the film and series database IMDb, which also belongs to Amazon. But as practical as X-Ray is in most cases, the whole thing is obviously not infallible.
Amazon Amazon’s X-Ray feature thinks Max Giermann is the real Stefan Raab.
Instead of naming Max Giermann as an actor in the mentioned “LOL” number, it actually states that we are dealing with the real Stefan Raab, who plays himself (but curiously with a picture of Max Giermann from that very performance ).
Kudos for the mask
Even if Max Giermann does his job really well and Carolin Kebekus jokingly suspects in the clips that the real Stefan Raab might be hiding under the Stefan Raab mask, it is ultimately clear to the human eye that we are in truth have to do with Germany’s probably best Raab imitator. The technology is still clearly reaching its limits here, but at least it ennobles Max Giermann and the make-up artists.
It remains to be seen whether the faux pas in the “LOL” episode will be corrected later. For the fans of the Amazon hit, however, it should be much more exciting anyway who will emerge as the winner of the anti-laughter competition when the last two episodes of the third “LOL” season appear on Amazon Prime Video on April 28, 2022 .
