With the 23 (!) character posters released a while ago, Amazon has already announced how many characters will play an important role in ” The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power “. In some cases (apart from well-known figures such as Galadriel or Elrond), it is still a big secret who the depicted people are, since they were all only cut without a face to be seen.
At least in one other case, this secret has now been revealed thanks to a new production design, even if a few questions still remain unanswered: The following picture shows the young Theo, who is played by newcomer Tyroe Muhafidin . And as his outfit and the object in his hand make clear, Theo has already received one of the mentioned posters (as shown in the article picture above in the middle).

A broken sword
As with some of the other characters, Theo is a character created specifically for the series who has not previously appeared in either the Tolkien books or the film adaptations. Even more exciting than the figure itself, however, seems to be the object that he looks at in astonishment: What at first glance looks a bit like a magic wand, like the one Gandalf later carries with him, is in fact a decorated broken sword.
In the “Lord of the Rings” cosmos, this of course awakens memories of Narsil, the mighty sword of the human king Isildur, which broke in the fight against the dark ruler Sauron – before Isildur then used the rest of the blade to cut off the One Ring of Sauron and thus his reign has finished. Many centuries later, the fragments of Narsil are used to forge Aragorn’s new sword, Anduril.
Although Isildur (played by Maxim Baldry ) appears in the series, the sword in Theo’s hand cannot be Narsil, since the “Lord of the Rings” series not only predates the known events of the book and film trilogy by thousands of years , but also before Sauron’s resurgence using the Rings of Power. However, as the title of the series suggests, the forging of those same rings will be an important part of the storyline.
Theo’s mother Bronwyn
The background story of said sword should also play a central role in the series. As the website The One Ring , which is often well informed in “Lord of the Rings” matters , reported a few weeks ago, citing Vanity Fair magazine, which provides exclusive “Rings of Power” information , the sword actually belongs to Theo’s single mother Bronwyn ( Nazanin Boniadi ). A new picture of her has now been published to match:

The human healer, who has a forbidden relationship with the elf Arondir ( Ismael Cruz Córdova ) (maybe he turns out to be Theo’s father after all?), was already seen in earlier pictures of “The Rings of Power”. be of greater importance for the plot of the series.
We will find out more details at the latest when the series finally appears: “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” starts on September 2, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video .
