Even though many film fans use their own Blu-ray collection to watch older films or browse streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+, TV broadcasts of feature films are still very popular and in high demand. After all, not everyone can and wants to afford one or even several streaming subscriptions and large collections. Therefore, in the following article we want to give you a small overview of some TV highlights of the week for film lovers* and have selected a special film tip for each day (we cheated a bit on one day and it turned out to be two.. .). Of course, according to the announcement, all broadcasts are uncut.

Monday: An exciting hunt through Paris
This week starts with an extraordinary thriller classic: In «The Murderer Came at Midnight» a man takes revenge on his wife’s killer — and thereby becomes a murderer himself. But because he believes that a taxi driver has been watching him, he follows him through Paris at night — and is then followed by the taxi driver’s colleagues himself. Incredibly exciting and well staged!
“ The Murderer Came at Midnight ” airs March 14 at 8:15 p.m. on ARTE.
Tuesday: 007 in a double pack
On Tuesday, 007 fans will get their money’s worth twice: In «Thunderball» Sean Connery as James Bond has to protect the world from Ernst Stavro Blofeld’s (Anthony Dawson) criminal organization SPECTER aka Phantom. This is exactly the organization George Lazenby has to deal with in his only appearance as James Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Here Telly Savalas leads SPECTER as Blofeld. Both times there is top-notch 007 action.

Wednesday: Big Oscar cinema with upcoming Marvel star
Big cinema offers «Moonlight» on Wednesday. The three-chapter drama directed by Barry Jenkins tells the story of the life and coming of age of Chiron, who struggles to make ends meet as a gay and black boy and then young man in a drug-ridden world. Joining the cast is the upcoming lead actor in Marvel’s Blade, Mahershala Ali , who won his first of two Oscars for his supporting role as little Chiron’s mentor. A well-acted, superbly directed drama.
