The sci-fi comedy by director Junta Yamaguchi and screenwriter Makoto Ueda is actually based on a fairly simple concept: café owner Kato ( Kazunari Tosa ) suddenly finds out that the TV in his shop and the computer in the apartment above are unusual are connected in a way: upstairs in the apartment you can see what will happen in two minutes downstairs in the café — and downstairs in the café you can see what happened upstairs in the apartment two minutes ago.
When his colleague and other friends found out about it, they came up with the idea of using the future glimpse. But two minutes is not enough. There must be a way to extend the window…

This concept is brilliantly implemented over a length of just 70 minutes. «Beyond The Infinite Two Minutes» manages without a visible cut, which in itself invites you to be amazed: After all, Kato and Co. have to interact with their future selves again and again. It’s phenomenal how these sequences were planned out here to fit together so perfectly in the end.
But that would of course only be a nice gimmick — but «Beyond The Infinite Two Minutes» offers much more. The cleverly told story is full of little twists and turns. She surprises, fascinates and inspires again and again.
