There are films for which you have to justify yourself again and again if you like them. A prime example of this is Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull . In fact, many followers of the Indiana Jones trilogy believe that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull betrays its franchise even more than 1999’s Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace did Has. In 1957 Nevada, archaeologist and college professor Indiana Jones ( Harrison Ford ) and his buddy Mac ( Ray Winstone ) are in a tight spot. The two were kidnapped by ruthless Soviet agent Irina Spalko ( Cate Blanchett ) and her helpers so that Indy could identify a mysterious box for them in a remote warehouse. Inside the highly magnetic box is an alien that crashed in Roswell in 1947.
Stupid for Indy that Mac has changed sides and is active as a double agent – but the practiced whip-wielder once again manages the spectacular escape. However, the danger is far from over: Indy gets lost on a US military site, where he barely survives a nuclear test. Eyed by the FBI, Indy has had enough of the States and wants to travel to Europe first, but is stopped by young Mutt Williams ( Shia LaBeouf ), who has in his possession a mysterious map belonging to the missing Professor Oxley ( John Hurt ). .
