Irrespective of all the scandals, Mel Gibson has long since been back in business and, with his action films, cultivates the image of being one of Hollywood’s last old-school warhorses. While the guys played by colleague Liam Neeson have something fatherly and righteous about them, Gibson is only too happy to take on the role of the fucked-up lone fighter and, simply by virtue of his charm, makes even gangsters popular – like a man named Driver in the tough thriller ” Get the Gringos “.

Tasteless, brutal and very entertaining
In his 4-star review, critic Robert Cherkowski came to this conclusion: “After the barriers of good taste were broken through very early on with the Mexican border, all signs point to a storm. The film is outrageously brutal, incredibly politically incorrect and shamelessly entertaining. A real Mel Gibson! “

An escape to Mexican prison
A criminal named Driver (Mel Gibson) crashes through the border fence into Mexico while fleeing the United States and soon ends up in jail while his loot ends up in the pockets of corrupt local federal cops. In fact, the prison is a walled village guarded by corrupt guards where Driver befriends a boy ( Kevin Hernandez ) and his mother ( Dolores Heredia ).
Driver must act when the organ mafia sets their sights on the boy and his old mafia bosses are also on the mat. This is bad for everyone in this movie who isn’t called Driver or in his favour…
