No one expected this scale, mainly because the competition was so damn high-calibre. But in Germany, “ Bohemian Rhapsody ” took first place in the annual cinema charts with 3.966 million viewers. Blockbusters such as Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (3.895 million), Avengers: Infinity War (3.457 million), Jurassic World (2.404 million), and Aquaman (2 million) moved against the Queen -Biopic ultimately lost out in Germany.
Now available to stream on Disney+ , Bohemian Rhapsody was an international hit, grossing more than $911 million worldwide on a budget of approximately $55 million. The film’s success story was finally rounded off by countless awards, including four Oscars (including for Rami Malek as Best Actor) and two Golden Globes.

In 1970, Freddie Mercury ( Rami Malek ), Brian May ( Gwilym Lee ), Roger Taylor ( Ben Hardy ) and John Deacon ( Joseph Mazzello ) formed the band Queen. The four men quickly celebrate their first successes and soon produce hit after hit, but behind the band’s facade things look far less rosy:
Freddie Mercury struggles with his inner turmoil and tries to come to terms with his homosexuality. Eventually, Mercury leaves Queen to start a solo career, but soon realizes that he’s lost without his comrades-in-arms. Although he is now suffering from AIDS, he manages to get his band members together again and put on one of the most legendary performances in music history at Live Aid…
