Warner Bros. / Amazon Prime Video
Although there are almost 40 (!) different «Godzilla» films, hardly any of them was able to unleash such elemental visual violence that director Gareth Edwards shook the cinema halls with in 2014. His » Godzilla «, which is included in the Amazon Prime Video subscription from today , is a must for all fans of excellently staged spectacle cinema who also have a heart for gigantic monsters.

That’s what «Godzilla» is about
1999: Remains of creatures are found during drilling in the Philippines. Something can escape. Shortly thereafter, a catastrophe occurs in the Japanese nuclear power plant, where the American Joe Brady ( Brian Cranston ) is employed. 15 years later, the big city around the power plant has been declared a nuclear-contaminated restricted area. But Brody does not believe the official explanation for the accident — it is said to have been an earthquake.
When his military son Ford ( Aaron Taylor-Johnson ) travels to Japan to persuade his father to return home to the United States, he is persuaded by his father to make one last trip to the restricted zone. There Joe sees the same warning signs as 15 years ago — and shortly thereafter total chaos breaks out. A monster called Muto leaves a trail of destruction in its wake. Ichiro ( Ken Watanabe ), who has been researching primeval monsters for decades, knows how the gigantic creature can be stopped: by Godzilla!
