2021 Universal Studios
We have a weekend of really strong cinema programming ahead of us, and we would like to recommend three highlights, all of which start today, March 24, 2022, and which should have something for everyone — action, drama or comedy.
Our first pick is “ Ambulance ” by Michael Bay. And the film is not only a really strong action thriller, but also a real surprise — because after Bay had recently often disappointed with soulless CGI bombast like in » Transformers 5 » and the Netflix actioner » 6 Underground «, he finally finds it back to the old strengths of » Bad Boys » and serve up electrifying action that doesn’t come from the computer.
«Ambulance»: As furious as «Mad Max: Fury Road» last time
In «Ambulance», a remake of the Danish » Ambulance — Save yourself who can! (Currently on Netflix ), brothers Will Sharp (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Danny (Jake Gyllenhaal) flee after a bank robbery gone wrong in an ambulance — in which paramedic Cam (Eiza González) is killing a man who has been shot cops fights.
The story is actually secondary, because after a very short introduction of the characters , the film actually consists of a two-hour showdown in which the audience can hardly breathe while the ambulance races through Los Angeles at breakneck speed.
