When we talk about the “ new Liam Neeson thriller ” in a headline, film fans actually know pretty much exactly what to expect: plenty of action! Because since the success of “Taken” aka “ 96 Hours ”, the giant from Ireland, who, by the way, is celebrating his 70th birthday this year, regularly finish off the bad guys of this world. Before that era, however, the actor, who was then best known for his role in Steven Spielberg’s World War II drama «Schindler’s List», was more associated with quieter films in which things were much more leisurely, but no less worth seeing. The biopic about the legendary sex researcher Alfred Charles Kinsey was released in German cinemas in 2005, at a time when hardly anyone saw Neeson as a rough-necked action hero. It finally made its way into the home cinema, but more than 15 years later the film has practically disappeared from the face of the earth — you can hardly find the DVD in a shop anymore, the film was never released on Blu-ray. It is therefore not surprising that many Neeson fans do not even know «Kinsey». For us, Neeson’s performance of the arch-conservative, stubborn free spirit, is one of the best of his entire career. Alfred Charles Kinsey ( Liam Neeson ) experienced a tough childhood, was raised by his father with a strict hand and so increasingly escaped into nature — and thus also into science. But he finally manages to break away from his guardian and so one day he starts studying biology and even gets his doctorate in zoology. But that’s not all: he is given a chair as a professor at the university, where he not only meets his future wife Clara ( Laura Linney , «Sully»), but also discovers his interest in human sexuality.
