Big setback for production
After TMZ reported allegations of sexual harassment against Frank Langella earlier this week, industry magazine Deadline now exclusively reports that the lead actor has been fired following an internal investigation. In all, filming was halfway through and now all of the scenes involving the character of family patriarch Roderick Usher need to be reshot in this Edgar Allen Poe adaptation.

A new actor is to be found for the role of Roderick Usher, who will succeed 84-year-old Langella. Langella has been an actor since the 1960s, acting on stage, in films and in series. In 1979 he starred as Dracula in the gothic horror film of the same name, in theaters and cinema he co-starred in Frost/Nixon and Netflix viewers have been able to see him in The Trial Of The Chicago 7 since 2020 .

Deadline says Frank Langella behaved «unacceptably» on the set of The Fall Of The House Of Usher and, following an investigation, the decision was made to recast his part . Langella has been accused of sexual harassment, which would include making inappropriate comments to a co-worker.
TMZ clarified the allegations, citing a source close to the production: Frank Langella made an inappropriate sex joke and after touching a colleague’s leg during a scene or rehearsal, he followed up with a witty comment («Did you like that? «). As it stands, Frank Langella, known for his frivolous ways, has been exhibiting behavior that was considered normal in Hollywood for many decades but has become less and less tolerated in the wake of the 2017 Weinstein scandal.
