The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) didn’t invent them, but they made it good form for comic blockbusters: We’re talking about additional scenes in and/or after the credits, without which hardly any Marvel or DC films can do . This is no different with the latest contribution to Sony’s «Spider-Man» cosmos.
Like many MCU adventures by now, “ Morbius ” also has two such end credits scenes, which are actually so-called mid-credit scenes, i.e. sequences that were already scattered in the credits and don’t come afterwards. On the other hand, there isn’t a scene after the end of the credits (i.e. a post-credits scene in the true sense of the word).
We take the two mid-credit scenes apart and speculate on what they could mean for the future of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU)…
Credits Scene 1: Michael Keaton’s return as Vulture
The trailers have already revealed that Morbius will see a reunion with Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes aka Vulture, the villain from the first MCU Spider-Man film Spider-Man: Homecoming . But we now have to wait until the end credits for Keaton’s return — and it now looks very different than the first «Morbius» trailer released in 2020 showed at the time. The scene shown there, in which Toomes apparently meets Michael Morbius ( Jared Leto ) next to a police car, didn’t make it into the finished film. In the following preview you can see the excerpt in question at the very end:
