“ The North Sea ” creates a gigantic catastrophe scenario. And not that far away from us: the seabed off Norway has become brittle due to decades of oil production. Despite urgent warnings, entrepreneur William Lie ( Bjørn Floberg ) and his company continue undisturbed until one day one of their huge drilling platforms actually sinks in the North Sea — burning and polluting the water for kilometers with a massive oil slick.
In a panic, a team is assembled that also includes Sofia ( Kristine Kujath Thorp ) and Arthur ( Rolf Kristian Larsen ). Both work as underwater robotics engineers and are assigned to help rescue the oil rig crew, which includes Sofia’s partner Stian ( Henrik Bjelland ). At the same time, the government and Lies experts are trying to figure out what to do if some kind of domino effect occurs. Because more of the huge platforms made of concrete and steel are also in danger of sinking and exposing the entire west coast of the country to an ecological disaster for generations.

«The North Sea» will be released in Germany on March 24, 2022 as 4K UltraHD Blu-ray, regular Blu-ray and DVD. As a video-on-demand, the film will be available for immediate streaming from March 10, 2022. All four FSK-12-approved formats can already be pre-ordered from online retailers such as Amazon.
