Even though the ” Jumanji ” movies are superficially light-heartedly fun adventure movies, the basic premise of a self-conscious game that forces players to complete certain tasks in order to save themselves from death is predestined for a horror thriller. Netflix seems to feel the same way: In the trailer for Choose Or Die above , a sadistic video game puts a student through an ordeal and even has one of its victims eat broken glass. Ouch!
That’s what “Choose Or Die” is about
When college student Layla ( Iola Evans ) is broke, she stumbles across an old video game that promises a $125,000 prize. In desperation, she teams up with gamer Isaac ( Asa Butterfield ) to beat the game and claim the prize. But it quickly becomes apparent that Curs>r , as the retro game is called, is much more than just a game. The events of the virtual adventure have real consequences and the game has the personality of a sadistic killer.
This forces Layla to make decisions with brutal consequences. If she refuses, she will die. If she continues, however, apparently innocent people will be involved. Will she manage to beat the game and restore normalcy? And if so, how many people will die for it? Anyway, the trailer shows that Curs>r employs some really disgusting methods…
A horror icon stars in the Netflix film
Isaac actor Asa Butterfield is probably the best-known actor in the cast of “Choose Or Die” for Netflix viewers. Finally, he stars in the streaming hit Sex Education . But with Robert Englund , who played Freddy Krueger in the ” Nightmare On Elm Street ” series, there is even a real horror legend involved in the film. While there’s no official info on what role he’s playing yet, it sounds a lot like he’s the one lending his voice to the nasty video game.
It ends with a bang: German trailer for the long-awaited finale of one of the best Netflix series
