The new Marvel series begins as a mix of mental health character study and horror film, before returning to the original theme via Minority Report climes and Indiana Jones adventures — but now more in the vein of the grandiose «X- Men series Legion. After a strong start, head writer Jeremy Slater and his team are unable to keep the tension at the same high level over the first four (of six) episodes.

Steven Grant ( Oscar Isaac ) works in a London museum shop, and while he knows a lot more about Egyptian mythology than his colleagues, they mostly push him around. He already has enough other problems, after all Steven is plagued by sleep problems and memory gaps.
After he inexplicably finds himself in Germany and gets involved in a wild chase with the henchmen of the cult leader Arthur Harrow ( Ethan Hawke ), the mysterious events finally catch up with him at home in London. What about the creepy bird-headed figure chasing him? How does he know the mysterious Layla ( May Calamawy )? And why does she call him Marc Spector?
