Five years ago, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert showed how masterly they can combine absurd humor with big emotions with the idiosyncratic tragic comedy “ Swiss Army Man ” (who would have thought that Daniel Radcliffe could be so touching as a farting corpse?). And with their new film Everything Everywhere All At Once , the Daniels now seem to be striking similar tones – and even turning the weirdness screw a whole lot further.
In the trailer, everything starts out quite ordinary: Since she can’t pay her taxes, a Chinese immigrant ( Michelle Yeoh ) is confronted by an unfriendly officer ( Jamie Lee Curtis ) with not very rosy prospects. But before she knows it, she finds herself embarking on a wild adventure with nothing less than the fate of the world at stake. In order to save them, however, the surprised woman must explore other universes and the lives she could have led…
