«I should have stopped earlier» Michael Bay has shot too many «Transformers» films – cinema news – FILMSTARTS.de

Paramount Pictures

In an interview with Les Cinémas Pathé Gaumant a few days ago , Michael Bay said drastic words about his new action hit » Ambulance » and called some of the CGI effects in the film «shit». But that’s not all, because Michael Bay recently conducted an interview with Unilad and was critical of his involvement in the » Transformers » franchise:

«I’ve done too many of these. Steven Spielberg [producer] said, ‘Just stop on three parts’. And I said I would stop. The studio asked me to do a fourth one, and it ended up making a billion. And then I said I’ll stop here. And they asked me again. I should have stopped earlier. They were fun for me.”

The «Transformers» franchise has always received a lot of criticism from the critics. However, one cannot blame Michael Bay for repeatedly taking a seat in the director’s chair to pit the giant robots against each other. Not only because his box office success proves him right (all five «Transformers» films have grossed more than 4.3 billion US dollars), but also because Bay probably just had fun with the gigantic battles of material to stage.

Nevertheless, it is nice that Michael Bay has now taken on new projects again. After the Netflix actioner » Six Underground » was a disappointment in every respect and didn’t even get its previously planned sequel, «Ambulance» is once again highly dynamic, extremely physical action cinema, with all other genre representatives embracing its powerful clout probably have to be measured this year. You can find out more about this in the official FILMSTARTS review or in the relevant big screen love edition of the FILMSTARTS podcast:

In addition, the «Transformers» series is not buried by the departure of Michael Bay. It wasn’t just » Bumbleebee » that proved that. More “Transformers” hits await us in the future. While » Transformers 7: Rise of the Beasts » opens in German cinemas on June 8, 2023, an animated «Transformers» spin- off opens in cinemas on July 18, 2024.

The new «Transformers» is just the beginning: «Transformers 8» and «Transformers 9» have also been confirmed
