” Jacob’s Wife ” is set in a small town in the American Midwest. This is where Anne Fedder ( Barbara Crampton ) lives, who increasingly feels trapped in the dull monotony of her provincial everyday life. Her husband, the local pastor Jakob ( Larry Fessenden ), doesn’t seem to be paying any more attention to her. Her childhood sweetheart Tom ( Robert Rusler ) comes back to town. Just as the sparks between the ex-lovers begin to fly again, they are attacked by a huge swarm of rats.
While Tom dies in a spooky way, “The Master” ( Bonnie Aarons ) suddenly appears in front of the distraught Anne. From now on everything is different for the once good housewife. The next morning she wakes up not only with suspicious bite wounds on her neck. She also feels a new sense of self-esteem and an enormous thirst for blood, which cannot be quenched with earthworms or with the lifeblood of cattle at the butcher…

“Jakob’s Wife – My Wife, the Vampire” celebrated its world premiere in spring 2021 as part of the renowned SXSW festival (South By South West) in Houston, Texas. The following summer it ran successfully in six German cities at the Fantasy Filmfest Nights XL presented by FILMSTARTS.

An iconic scream queen at the head of the cast
The staging of the tongue-in-cheek trashy “Jakob’s Wife – My Wife, the Vampire” comes from “Girl On The Third Floor” director Travis Stevens , who also co-wrote the screenplay. Barbara Crampton, who became a popular scream queen in the 1980s with her appearances in cult films such as “Re-Animator” and “From Beyond”, was won for the leading role. Just a few days ago, ” Sacrifice – The Selected One “, another new horror title with the participation of Crampton, was released in Germany.
Other parts include Larry Fessenden (“Cabin Fever 2”), Bonnie Aarons (the evil nun from “The Conjuring 2” and “The Nun”) and Sarah Lind (“True Justice”). In addition, Robert Rusler from the teen comedy hits “Shag” and “LISA – Der Hell Wahnsinn” was another well-known face from the cinema of the 1980s in front of the camera.
