Netflix / Jay Maidment
Filming for the third season of The Witcher has recently started and now Netflix has announced the first official additions to the new season. Among them are two characters that fans of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books know and appreciate, one character that has been slightly modified from the original – and one entirely new character.
Milva & Mistle
Let’s start with what is probably the most important newcomer: Meng’er Zhang played the no less powerful sister of the eponymous Marvel hero in “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings” in 2021 and will probably also appear in future MCU projects. We’ll soon see Zhang on Netflix, too, as Milva (a.k.a. Maria Barring), an archer who is as accurate as she is ice-cold.
Milva is an important character because she joins Geralt’s troupe in the book, which he gradually assembles to search for Ciri (once again). As the usually well-informed fan site Redanian Intelligence reports, Milva and Geralt are said to meet in Season 3. More about this here:

Not to be confused with Milva is Mistle, played by newcomer Christelle Elwin . The tough, suspicious and vengeful young woman is part of a youthful gang called The Rats, which is eventually joined by the aforementioned Ciri (Freya Allan). Mistle and Ciri develop feelings for each other – it remains to be seen whether this will also be the case with the Netflix series.
In any case, in the character description of Mistle published by Netflix, there is talk of a “chance encounter” that changes everything – this probably means the meeting with Ciri.
An elven warrior & a prince
The cast also includes two actors: Robbie Amell (“Upload”, “The Flash”) plays a character created specifically for the show, an elf named Gallatin, who leads the Scoia’tael. That’s the name of a merciless group of elven guerrilla fighters in the world of The Witcher. Gallatin is also supposed to clash with the elf leader Francesca (Mecia Simson).
And finally there’s Hugh Skinner , who plays Prince Radovid of Redania. There are quite a number of Radovids in the books, however they were all kings. So here the character has been changed a bit, mainly based on Radovid V who is probably the son of King Vizimir in the books but is his younger brother in the series.
The Witcher Season 3 is expected to be released on Netflix sometime in 2023 .
