The comedy series » Young Rock » takes a humorous and fictionalized look at the childhood, youth and early career years of ex-wrestler and Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson . The framework story is set in the future of the year 2032, in which Johnson (who plays himself here and also co-produces the series) is running for US President and looks back on his life. And it’s precisely in this framework story that The Rock soon faces opposition from a celebrity guest star in season 2.

Sean Astin as The Rock’s childhood nemesis
Sean Astin is best known for his breakthrough child roles as Mikey in the cult adventure film The Goonies and, of course, as Frodo’s faithful sidekick Samwise Gamgee in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy. More recently, Astin has made a name for himself by guest-starring on hit shows like The Big Bang Theory , Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Stranger Things . And he is now continuing this with “Young Rock”.

In the second season of the comedy series, Astin will meet chiropractor Dr. Play Julian Echo, who fell out with young Dwayne Johnson on several occasions during his childhood and has harbored a grudge against him ever since. Two weeks before the presidential election, he reappears in the superstar’s life and claims that he tried to kill him — which obviously does not bode well for Dwayne’s campaign. It can be assumed that in the reviews of the new episodes we will also see Dr. Get to see Echo’s younger counterpart and learn more about the origins of his feud with The Rock.

Even if the sparse local interest on the net indicates that not too many have noticed, «Young Rock» has also been running in Germany since the end of 2021. The first season can still be accessed via Sky Ticket . It is still unclear when season 2 will find its way to the pay TV provider. In the USA, where the series is much more popular, it will start tomorrow, March 15, 2022 on the NBC TV channel. If it takes a similar amount of time to start in Germany as with season 1, the new The Rock adventures shouldn’t await us on Sky until November 2022.
