The term «children’s film» is often associated with an intellectual disparagement, which assumes that you can expect little viewers to do anything anyway, as long as it’s colourful, dull and makes noise. And as an adult you can only roll your eyes from bored to embarrassed at such films, right? No, that’s nonsense. The children’s film is completely free of all limits in terms of subject matter and style and can, for example, offer non-stop slapstick, but at the same time take the children’s emotional intelligence seriously and stimulate it.

So make sure you watch : Like all films from the Studio Ghibli, “ Chihiro ” inspires with a never-ending source of creativity with a love for detail, which leads to unique visual worlds in which young and old alike can lose themselves. The special thing about the film, however, is its completely clear handling of fears that don’t have to be compulsively conquered here. It’s more about how to deal with them. The result is a wonderful story about friendship, independence and trust.
