This is what (not only) X-Men fans have been waiting for: After the last missing puzzle piece of the official mutant saga finally landed on February 18th with ” X-Men Origins: Wolverine ” at Disney+ – which is now complete, from ” X-Men ” (2000) to “ X-Men: New Mutants ” (2020) is available on the streaming platform – the next gap was filled with “ Deadpool 2 ” yesterday, Friday. And somehow the “Merc with a mouth” is also part of it. After all, he has appeared regularly in the comic adventures of the mutants and also repeatedly refers to his somewhat more heroic colleagues in his cinema films.

For all superhero fans who are looking for a bit of a change from the rather tame screen adventures of Spider-Man and Co., the cheeky, brutal sequel is just as worthwhile as its predecessor – even if “Deadpool 2” isn’t quite there in the end Part 1 can keep up. The FILMSTARTS review still gave it a good 3.5 out of a possible 5 stars.
“Deadpool 2”: Cheeky, brutal & far from over
You’d think Wade Wilson ( Ryan Reynolds ) got enough in the first film to make it a good one. After the anti-hero was already horribly disfigured on his last mission, life in “Deadpool 2” is about to take another hit – this time in the form of the badass supervillain Cable ( Josh Brolin ) who takes it on the teenage mutant Russell aka Firefist ( Julian Dennison ) aside.
Fortunately, the fate of the teenager (and the world) does not lie solely in the hands of the indestructible joker. Because he once again gets active support from all sorts of allies in the fight against evil – starting with X-Men buddy Colossus ( Stefan Kapicic ) to his hard-nosed sidekick Negasonic Teenage Warhead ( Brianna Hildebrand ), who, contrary to their damn cool name, are no longer teenagers is, right down to his X-Force crew of Domino ( Zazie Beetz ), Zeitgeist ( Bill Skarsgård ), and Weasel ( TJ Miller ).
