It’s only been a few years since Faces Of Death ‘s indexing was extended due to its still shocking appeal. Accordingly, surprisingly, the trend reversal followed last February: The cult shocker by John Alan Schwartz , also known in Germany as «Faces of Death», was removed from the index in the unabridged version and as a result can finally be openly advertised and sold in Germany. And so that all those who are enthusiastic about such offbeat cinema actually get the chance to put the legendary, controversial classic on their shelves, the film is now getting its new edition in home cinema.
«Faces Of Death» will be released on May 20, 2022 for the first time unabridged with FSK 18 approval — as a strictly limited edition. So if you’ve heard a lot about the controversial work and finally want to catch up on the documentary horror trip, you probably won’t do anything wrong with a pre-order. Because the edition is only 666 pieces — and they should probably be sold out quite quickly.

Update (March 17, 11:45 a.m.): » Faces of Death» has conquered the Amazon sales charts since yesterday and can no longer be ordered after the rush. Anyone who was unable to get hold of a copy can only hope that some pre-orders will be canceled and that the limited Blu-ray will perhaps be available again.
Update (March 18, 4:00 p.m.): After the limited Special Edition is sold out, there is now another Collector’s Edition limited to just 300 pieces with two Blu-rays and three DVDs as well as a “Faces of Death” sculpture, the can now be ordered directly via the shop page of the rental company:

There are no details about a non-limited edition so far. However, since the FSK finally gave the green light for the uncut version, it is quite conceivable that further editions will follow if the limited edition is sold out soon. In any case, if you have an FSK approval in your luggage, it is much easier to get such things off the ground.

While the HD release of the film was announced many, many years ago and repeatedly postponed, the third release is now following within a comparatively short time: After the limited and long out of print edition in the Blu-ray Steelbook (2020), this finally followed Standard Editions on DVD and Blu-ray (2021). The film is now appearing for the first time as a numbered collector’s edition in the media book — once again, of course , including the unabridged theatrical version and the chronologically arranged «straight cut» of the film.
