In » Metal Gear Solid «, «Rambo» meets «James Bond» and anime: That’s how one could describe the insane and groundbreaking video game franchise that is finally set to hit cinemas in the years to come — directed by «Kong: Skull». But since the end of 2020 it was announced that Marvel and «Star Wars» star Oscar Isaac will play the main character Solid Snake, the video game adaptation has been quiet. Apparently, «Metal Gear Solid» hasn’t made any significant progress since then either. In an interview with FILMSTARTS, Oscar Isaac revealed:
«We’re still tinkering. [The film] is definitely still on my radar. If we’ve found the right story and it really makes sense to make it into a movie, then it will happen. But at the moment we are still considering it.”
Of course, Oscar Isaac couldn’t tell us when that would happen. However, he made one thing clear: «There’s no way it’s going to be filmed this year.»

Long wait for «Metal Gear Solid»
Fans who finally want to experience the super soldier Solid Snake on the big screen will have to be patient. After all, the «Metal Gear Solid» film adaptation is still in a very early phase of planning. The fact that the production of video game adaptations can take a long time was proven most recently by » Uncharted «, which finally made it into the cinemas last February, 14 years after it was announced.

Originally announced in 2006, Metal Gear Solid was delayed indefinitely in 2010 and revived by Uncharted producer Avi Arad in 2012. The waiting time is already a whopping 16 years and currently it actually looks as if the spy thriller could even complete the second decade. So let’s hope Oscar Isaac, Jordan Vogt-Roberts and screenwriter Derek Connolly don’t have to tinker for too much longer…
